Sava Sprints 13-14 Sept 2008

Sava Sprints held at Bedok Reservoir last weekend :

Nice that we had KL & Penang teams to compete with us in the BCS races. Also added to the Pink atmosphere...

Having a break while waiting for the next race....

Esther in estasy... with that cup of hot coffee. (Hot water complimentary from the SIA team. They brought a gas stove & kettle!)

Flower ceremony....
After the race, we can friend-friend again..... heheheh....
Our sponsored pink crocs... Think we should change our cheer from "pinky tights" to "pinky feet"!!

Delphine, Edwin & their very excited Bianca was around to show support too!! :) Bianca's first trip to a dragon boat event!

Dragon Boat Festival on 28 June

Bright hot sunny day at Bedok Reservoir.....

It's been awhile since we raced in a 800m race. Despite our endurance training, the 800m finishing point seemed to take forever to reach.

The boats for our category was the small boat, so fewer womenpower to charge through the race... As always, it was a fun outing and everyone enjoyed themselves. :) Paddlers In The Pink - Group A even managed to get 5th position ahead of the Sunday Dragons! Think that calls for some celebration.

We were pleasantly surprised to see Shin drop by our tent & she brought Josie & Toby along to see all the paddlers. Good to see her cheerful as usual!

After the race, about 20 of us had an early dinner at Bedok North, apparently famous for bak chor mee soup with many other yummy stuff.

Dancing at IMM - 31 May 2008

It was a cloudy Saturday morning on 31st May....

A sea of hot pink tights gathered at the western part of Singapore, accompanied by excited chatter. As the flock gathered, it attracted curious stares from passers-by.

The music blared on the speakers & we started rehearsals!

PitP dance performance for Health in the Heartlands exhibition at IMM was one of the highlights. Perhaps the most entertaining.

Backstage preparations, as Winnie HairSalon opens for business, as most of the ladies got their hair teased & hairsprayed. Esther cringes & gasps for air!

Proud stylist Winnie & model Wendy pose for a good shot!

Our sporty racerback top, specially made for the team....designed & printed by Irene C.

Our 3 minutes of fame started as we posed & danced & shook our butts for the audience, of course to big applause...

Guest of Honour Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan made his way around the booths. We didn't let him leave until he got to hear our entire team cheer!

Another of the many group pictures we took for the day. As our instructor Li Leng says, we're "Professional Dancers". So got to look right & pose right!

Paddlers in the News

Paddlers in the Pink was in the news last month, but I wished it wasn't for this reason.

Our dear friend and team mate Yoke Chan was involved in a fatal accident on April 26, which happened after dragon boat training.

Training would never be the same without her, but in my heart, I believe she is still with us in spirit.

Remembering Sue Hixson...

2nd November 2007...
We all gathered at St. Georges Church to remember our dear friend and teammate Sue Hixson, who passed away in September. The service was to be in celebration of the wonderful life Sue had led, but somehow, we all felt very sad. We presented a paddle ceremony and song and dance items, which Sue was familiar with.
Sue, you will always be in our hearts...

Dragon Tug in May07

2007 was a quiet year for my dragon boat activities. Work seemed to have overshadowed every other thing and I guess I've only to look forward to 2008 for more happenings!

Dragon Tug in May 07 was one of the fun races that managed to squeeze in...
